The Mentoring Program is a great opportunity for
professional development for new professionals as well as seasoned advisors.
For new professionals (or those about to finish their graduate programs), this
is a unique way to transition to the field and gain knowledge from someone who
is more experienced. For those of you who have been in the field for more than
five years, this is a way for you to help colleagues understand the advising
profession and become acquainted with the benefits of NACADA membership. Both
the mentor and mentee can learn a lot from one another and enjoy the
opportunities for networking and challenging yourselves in new ways.
Mentors and mentees will communicate regularly, share
brief common readings to spark discussion, work on institutional projects,
propose and present sessions at the regional and national conferences, or even
co-author articles for Academic Advising Today or the NACADA Journal.
Applications are due on March 12 and pairs will be
notified by March 16. Pairs will then be introduced on March 20 at the
Mentoring Reception at the Region 2 conference!
