More Than A Professional Conference...

Am I the only one who sees conferences as more than professional events? Come on! Don't tell me I'm alone. I love traveling. I love meeting new people. I love exploring the frontiers of this world and what better opportunity to do it than conferences. I can travel alone. I can travel with a colleague. When I like them enough, I can bring a family member (truth is, it's all based on their availability). Nonetheless, conferences should be more than the professional opportunity to learn something new as an academic advisor, share best practices, network or take a break from "in office" work, it should allow you to explore the area you are visiting.
