CALL FOR PROPOSALS Due

NACADA Region 2
Delaware State Drive-In Planning Committee invites you to submit a proposal for
the 2015 NACADA Delaware State One-Day Academic Advising Conference and
encourages you to inform all colleagues that may be interested in presenting
at the Delaware One-Day Drive in on June 1st 2015 between 9 a.m. and
3 p.m.
The conference
welcomes proposals from all areas of academic advising, and from
those with a range of skill and experience levels. Proposal should
reference the general theme, Play Ball! Advising in the Big Leagues. The
conference planning committee would like to see a collaboration of presenters
from all Delaware higher education, and that of the surrounding states. You do
not need to be a member of NACADA to present, or to attend the event.
The conference is
intended for administrators, academic advisors, and faculty advisors. The
preferred presenters should offer best practices in the various areas of
advising for both community colleges and baccalaureate colleges.
Proposals could
address topics including, but not limited to, the following:

- advising students with academic difficulties and/or disabilities
- advising the whole student
- assessment: advising athletes
- working with students in crisis
- advising transfer/nontraditional students
- achieving balance in advising
- advising and self care
- career advising
- challenges: faculty involvement
- transition from high school to college
- advising first-generation students
- advising veteran students
- advising international students
- retention: students on probation
- addressing student engagement and stress
- mentoring
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SUBMISSION CRITERIA:
Criteria for selection of paper/presentation: Proposals will
be evaluated based on relevance to current issues in advising, appeal to
conference participants, creativity, ingenuity, and applicability for
participants after the conference. We are seeking a wide range of presentation
topics relating to academic advising from a variety of advising professionals
in our region.
Eligibility for submission: Anyone involved in advising
(administration, faculty, full-time advisors, and administrative staff) is
invited to submit a proposal. We encourage novices and experienced presenters
alike. Share your research, best practices, or techniques with colleagues in
the region.
Proposals should include your presentation title, abstract
and learning objectives. Please include a brief abstract describing your presentation, an outline of presentation, and the desired learning objectives. .Abstracts will be included in the conference program. Please limit abstracts to 150 words.
All sessions will be concurrent sessions which will be 60 minutes long.

- Due to budgetary constraints, complimentary registration or lodging for paper presenters is not available.
- NACADA
