Hi! My name is Tania Alvarez and I’m the incoming Awards Chair for our fabulous Region 2! I am very honored to serve in this position, and excited for the years to come. I currently work as Coordinator of Transfer Advising and Articulation at Old Dominion University, and I have been a member of NACADA since I started working at ODU in 2009. I have been getting increasingly involved in NACADA as a presenter, Region 2 conference registration co-chair, awards recipient, awards reader, in the steering committee for the Advising Transfer Students Commission, Summer Institute, proposal reader, and most recent as a NACADA Emerging Leader. Every experience has been extremely rewarding and lots of fun! I would like to encourage all of you to get involved; you will be so happy you did! I look forward to serving you as the Awards Chair for our region, and I’m SO thankful to be learning from the best-Kathy Sadowsky; she has done an amazing job!

My name is Dawn Coder I am the director of Academic Advising & Student Disability Services (AA&SDS) for Penn State World Campus. My responsibilities in the position includes budgeting, administrative and strategic planning, and academic advising for online learners. NACADA has provided research to support the value added to higher education institutions by including academic advising on campuses. I am looking forward to being involved in the future of NACADA and in assisting in incorporating more of an online learning’s perspective in this profession. In the Western Pennsylvania liaison position I want to look at business needs, people involved, and opportunities available to continue to recognize the importance of the academic advising field. My dream is to marry all three together in the next two years to continue the success that NACADA has experienced and assist the leaders to take our field to the next level.
